I think the original pickups were a little more versatile with clean sounds, and not quite as dark. While it doesn’t have the same kind of output as a humbucker-equipped Strat, the bridge pickup does a good job with mid-to-heavy overdrive. I primarily use the one and five positions on the pickup selector, and for the most part, I play blues and rock with this guitar.
